Security measures for Tucson Gem show

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The city is filling up with vendors ready to sell their items at the Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase and law enforcement is keeping a watchful eye out for any trouble.

Tucson police already have a strong presence at the shows around town as vendors are setting up displays for the millions of dollars worth of precious stones brought into town.

Tucson police officers are patrolling on foot, bike and driving around town.

Some sellers are also hiring private security to keep things from getting stolen.

At least one out of town vendor says he would not keep coming back if he did not feel safe.

Tucson police also ask the public to keep an eye out. If you see something that looks suspicious, call 911.
