PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A motorist escaped serious injury Monday night after a vehicle pulled up next to hers on Interstate 17 and someone inside opened fire, Phoenix police said.

The 58-year-old woman, who wants to remain anonymous, was alone in the vehicle and had just left church band practice, said Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump.

Investigators said the gunman shot at the woman three times.

The bullets were so close, she said they literally cut the hairs of her bangs.

"I think it grazed me," she said.

The victim suffered slight injuries from glass fragments and the suspects chased her off the freeway, Crump said.

She said she was driving in the center lane using cruise control when she passed a pickup truck driving in the slow lane.

She noticed the driver speed up. When their vehicles were even, someone in the truck started shooting.

The woman was able to grab her cell phone. The first number that popped up was her husband. When he answered she told him what happened and to call 911.

Investigators don't have many leads and ask for the public's help in identifying the suspects.

The suspect vehicle is described as a older model, two-door, dark blue, single-cab pickup. The vehicle was last seen eastbound on the Carefree Highway from 27th Drive.

It may be bad news for a bear spotted several times in an area in Rio Rico the last few weeks, state wildlife workers may have to put it down.  However, they may not have to kill it, IF neighbors change their ways.
