Marana HS teacher a finalist for Outstanding High School Faculty Award

MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

John Sugameli, a Marana High School teacher has made the finals for "Outstanding High School Faculty Awards Program," sponsored by the Arizona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Circle K Corporation.  He was recently honored during a U of A pre-game ceremony on Jan. 23. 

Sugameli, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and is a graduate of the University of Arizona and he teaches a construction class at Marana High School, where according to a MUSD release "it's not uncommon to walk into the ‘construction site' and find students laying tile, mixing cement and building walls." 

Sugameli is said to design his lessons to provide 21st century skills to his students and help them compete in a global market. 

His passion for teaching has helped earn Sugameli a reputation as a dedicated educator who cares about his students and his community. 

Sugameli and eight other teachers will receive their honors during an awards ceremony at the U of A/Jim Click Hall of Champions on Feb. 28.
