Montgomery roads reopened; 25 mph speed limit in effect

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange says the citywide road closure in Montgomery has been lifted but a 25 mph speed limit is still in effect. Montgomery County roads are also open.

Strange said there are still some problems on roads in city especially in the downtown area and Highway 80 at Interstate 65.

The mayor said he expects things to be back to normal on the roads by 11 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Strange said there were two inches of ice on Atlanta Highway Tuesday night that caused four accidents in rapid succession. A Montgomery police officer suffered a separated shoulder in one of those accidents.

Strange said widespread road closures like this have never been made in Montgomery or Montgomery County.

Montgomery Public Schools will be closed Thursday.
