Head of PCC nursing program resigns

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The head of Pima Community College's nursing program is stepping down after an investigation into wrongdoing.

Marty Mayhew is resigning and a lab specialist has been placed on administrative leave.

PCC Chancellor Lee Lambert did not elaborate on the allegations against Mayhew and lab specialist Nancy Peasley because a state nursing board is still investigating.

Lambert characterized the allegations as "serious" in a memo to PCC staff.

Lambert announced that Brian Stewart, an academic dean from the Desert Vista Campus, will oversee the nursing program until a permanent replacement for Mayhew is found.
