Auburn student's cover of Disney's 'Frozen' hit goes viral

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

An Auburn University student and Montgomery native's cover of a song from Disney's hit movie "Frozen" is going viral and getting worldwide attention.

Caleb Hyles, 22, recorded the cover of "Let It Go" Jan. 24 and posted it on YouTube. In less than a week, the video was viewed more than 475,000 times on YouTube. It has since been viewed more than 2.3 million times.

Hyles, a junior liberal arts major at Auburn, says he's been recording covers for about six years but has never gotten a response like this.

"I started getting comments on the video in different languages -- lots of different languages. I think that's when I realized this might be a tad different," Hyles said.

Hyles attributes the success of the video to the popularity of the movie"Frozen," the love people have for this particular song and, of course, social media.

Hyles says he feels very blessed and hopes his music reminds others they have a lot of be thankful for.

"That's what I want -- for people have a positive emotional response to something I've done," Hyles said.

Hyles has been singing in the choir at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery since he was 8 years old. He is a graduate of Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School in Montgomery.
