It's gem and mineral show time in Tucson again. Tents are up and shows are beginning, with the official kick off happening this afternoon, one show is starting this morning.
The Pueblo Gem and Mineral show at Riverpark Inn, begins at 10 a.m.; this is just one of 40 shows that will take place over the next two weeks.
The City of Tucson is expecting the shows to bring about 55,000 tourists in the next month and add $100 million into the economy.
Many people are wondering how they might see all 40 shows or at least more than one, and the City of Tucson has a solution – a free shuttle service.
The Gem Ride Shuttle Service starts today, and there are several routes to choose from. Those interested in riding the shuttle can park at designated parking lots, with one near Cushing St. and Linda Ave. The fee will be $5 to park a vehicle there all day, but the shuttle ride to the gem shows is free.
Shuttle service starts at 7 a.m. and goes until 7 p.m. daily, with shuttles picking up and dropping off every 15 to 20 minutes.
