Car accident claims life of Elba man

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

Troopers say a single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of an Elba man.

Alabama State Troopers say the crash, which occurred on Coffee County 208 four miles northeast of Zion Chapel, resulted in the death of 74-year-old John Robert Corley Jr.

Corley's death resulted from injuries he recieved when the 1983 Chevrolet he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to a local hospital where he was he later pronounced dead.

According to state troopers, he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. 

State Troopers are continuing to investigate and no other information is available at this time.

Mr. Corley's family says that he was a retired serviceman from the National Guard. He was referred to as "Junior" by his friends and family.
