PHOENIX (AP) -

Gov. Jan Brewer's return from her visit to New York for the Super Bowl has been delayed because of a snowstorm hitting the East Coast.

Brewer spokesman Andrew Wilder says Brewer's Monday return flight to Phoenix was among those airlines canceled as snow and frigid temperatures gripped the northeast.

The flight-tracking website FlightAware reported nearly 2,000 delayed flights and 1,500 canceled flights nationwide. Affected cities included Philadelphia, Newark, N.J., and New York.

Brewer attended the ceremonial handoff of Super Bowl host states with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Saturday. She went to the big game Sunday.

Next year's game is in Glendale.
