TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

This is the first full week of the Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase in Tucson. Many vendors at the 40 shows now open across town say business is steady as many out of town visitors continue to make their way into Southern Arizona.

Village Silversmith owner, John Bajoras, has been coming to sell gems and jewelry in Tucson for about 10 years. "Business has been good. It's very consistent here because regardless of the local economy per say, worldwide the jewelry industry will always be a strong business."

Something popular people are looking for this year is purple amethyst among other things like meteorites and even fossils.
