MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Mariah Desmarais received her award from the Arizona Athletic Trainers Association (AzATA) at the 37th annual AzATA Symposium in January.

Mariah is not only the 19th Mountain View H.S. student to receive the award, but the second in her family, according to a MUSD release.  Her older brother Thomas received the same scholarship in 2005.

The Lanny Williams Scholarship is a $500 award, given to three senior high school athletic training student aids.  The qualified students must have at least two years experience, as well as demonstrate excellent work ethic, character, leadership qualities, academic achievements, experience and competency as an athletic training student aid.

Mariah will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on a soccer and academic scholarship.
