TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

New details emerged Thursday about a vicious attack on New Year's Day in Tucson that left two people dead. The Tucson Police Department said 28-year-old Michael Leday ran over three people with a car then fled.

The police report released today that is dozens of pages long, shows just how violent Michael Leday had been during the deadly attack that happened on the south side.

According to the documents, a number of witnesses in the area told police Leday ran over Patrick Balbastro, Balbastro's girlfriend and Cindy Burnett multiple times; at one point, he reportedly ragged one of the victims back and forth.

Witnesses also told police they saw the man get out of his car to punch and kick Balbastro after he had run him over with a car.

Once on scene, at least one police officer thought there had been more victims because there were so many pieces of clothing scattered along the road. One neighbor told authorities they had been frightened as they watched the ordeal, too scared to help after Leday drove off, fearing he would come back.

Tucson Police said Leday ran over the three victims after getting into an argument with Balbastro who tried breaking up a fight between Leday and Cindy Burnett.

Leday is at the Pima County Jail after being extradited from Kansas City as he awaits his next day in court.
