TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Amphi Middle School was evacuated this morning because of a suspicious package found in a bathroom, police said.

The Tucson Police Department bomb squad determined the "small item" did not contain explosives and was safe.

TPD dogs performed one more sweep of the school before students and staff were allowed back in the school at about 11:40.

Everyone was moved outside until officers cleared a safe indoor area for the staff and students to remain during the investigation.

According to the Amphitheater Public Schools, nearby Prince Elementary School staff moved their students first to the playground, then to the multi-purpose room during the investigation.
