TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Two juveniles are behind bars for what authorities called a plot to kill an 18-year-old woman.

Pima County Sheriff's officials said Kevin Pettitt, 17, was upset with his ex-girlfriend who is the mother of his 1-year-old child because of money and custody issues.

They said he and his friend Wyatt Bowman, 17, planned to lure her into the desert, shoot her, remove her teeth and then burn her body so she couldn't be identified, according to a news release.

They said Pettitt offered to pay Bowman an undisclosed amount of money for his help.

They both face a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and are being tried as adults.
