TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A man accused of stabbing his mother to death faced a judge Monday morning for a pretrial hearing.

Police found Anthony Bertolina's mother, Mary, when officers paid a visit to the family's south Toledo home in December to do a safety check after she missed work.

Bertolina, 34, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in court.

A competency hearing has been scheduled for March. A trial date is set for April.
