Victim identified in South Richmond apartment fire

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Fire crews have confirmed that a body has been recovered from a residential apartment building in South Richmond Monday night after a fire.

Grace E. Rush, 82, was found deceased in the 6th floor apartment. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

The fire started around 7:45 p.m. Monday in an apartment on the 6th floor of the building at 1920 Stonewall Ave. Occupants of the building were evacuated and many were sheltered in the lobby across the street.

Fire crews confirmed one person was transported to VCU Medical Center for non life-threatening injures. Crews brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes. The fire caused significant damage to the apartment unit.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting five other people displaced by the fire.

    Richmond police have confirmed they are on the scene of a shooting on the 2100 block of Mimosa Street.  We're told the call came in just after 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Right now, we're still working to find
    When officers arrived on scene, they found two people with gunshot wounds in a car or SUV-type vehicle. A male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A female victim later died at VCU Medical Center.
