TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Arizona Representative Raul Grijalva is one of 18 members of Congress calling on the White House to relax the federal government's classification of marijuana.

In a letter sent Wednesday, the representatives asked President Obama to remove marijuana from the strictest classification on the federal government's list of drugs.

The letter is inspired by the president's recent comment to the New Yorker magazine in which he said marijuana isn't more harmful than alcohol when it comes to "its impact on the individual consumer."
