Border Patrol agents donate money and marrow

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Border Patrol employees in the Tucson Sector are giving of themselves in more ways than one.

They recently pledged and donated more than $338,000 to charities worldwide during the Arizona Combined Federal Campaign. Nearly 900 Tucson Sector employees signed up for cash or payroll deductions to support numerous charities covering a wide variety of causes:  support to animals, children with cancer, law enforcement officers injured in the line of duty, and local food banks.

Some even helped save lives through a bone marrow drive.  Tucson Sector conducted a "Be the Match" drive in which more than 30 employees agreed to be tested to see if they could possibly be a match to help save someone's life.

Last year, one agent was a match and underwent surgery to help save the life of a man suffering from acute lymphocytic leukemia.
