TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson man, convicted for his involvement in the shooting of a Tucson Police officer has been sentenced today.

Ricky Mendoza Jr was sentenced to almost 30 years behind bars today.  He was found guilty of two counts of burglary, and six counts of possession of a deadly weapon.   He will serve this sentence after he finishes an 11 year sentence on a previous conviction. 

The charges are from a November 2012 burglary call in midtown.  TPD Sgt. Bob Carpenter was on scene investigating when he was shot in the head.  Carpenter had emergency brain surgery following the shooting and has made an almost complete recovery.
