San Luis, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Border Patrol agents arrested a man near San Luis, on Feb. 11 for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine across the border into the U.S.

According to a Border Patrol release Venancio Hau-Flores, a Mexican citizen, was attempting to cross the border when a canine alerted to possible drugs in Hau-Flores' car.

His vehicle was searched by BP agents, according to the release, who found 35 packages of crystal meth in a compartment behind the rear seat.  The packages weighed 33 pounds and were worth an estimated $506,000 reported Border Patrol.

BP agents seized both the vehicle and the drugs; Hau-Flores was turned over to ICE/HSI agents for further processing.
