(CNN) – United Nations staffers say they found a four-year-old Syrian boy crossing the Jordanian desert alone, carrying only a plastic bag with his belongings.

The U.N. Refugee Agency says the boy and his family got separated while trying to escape the fighting in Syria.

U.N. staffers did help reunite the young boy with his family.
