Coach Rodriguez to chair Gootter Grand Slam Exhibition

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

U of A Football coach Rich Rodriguez to chair the 9th Annual Gootter Grand Slam Tennis Exhibition and gala dinner in March. 

The exhibition will be held at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa on March 16, and includes a day of fun for the whole family.  Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with UA mascots Wilbur and Wilma and Coach Rodriguez taking to the courts for a Celebrity Pro Exhibition.  This will be followed by  matches from tennis legends like Tracy and John Austin, Gigi Fernandez as well as Murphy and Luke Jensen. 

Coach Rodriguez is not only expected to play, but will also be the Chair Umpire during the Pro Matches that begin at 1 p.m.

A gala dinner will follow the matches at 5:30 p.m. also at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa; Coach Rodriguez will present the Steven M. Gootter Foundation Philanthropic Award to the 2014 honorees – Humberto and Czarina Lopez.
