HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond man is behind bars accused of leading police on a chase through Chesterfield and Hopewell.

The chase began around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when a Chesterfield Police officer tried to pull over a car near Jefferson Davis Highway and West Hundred Road. Instead of pulling over, police say Scott J. Brown-Slater, 23, continued east on Route 10.

Officers followed Slater onto I-295 south for several miles until he exited in Hopewell, according to Chesterfield Police. Hopewell Police joined in the chase, which went back into Chesterfield. Police used stop sticks to deflate the vehicles tires on Route 10 and arrested Brown-Slater.

He now faces charges of felony eluding, conspiracy to violate the drug control act, possession of marijuana, reckless driving and driving while revoked. No one was injured during the incident.
