TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Sector Border Patrol personnel visited local veterans in honor of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week.

Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr. and other agents walked through the veteran's hospital in Tucson to thank the patients and outpatients for their service to our country. They also handed out Valentine's Day cards provided by the hospital.

"Veterans make up a significant portion of the Border Patrol's workforce," Chief Padilla stated in a news release. "We honor and appreciate our veterans in a variety of ways, including preference when hiring."
