Marana, AZ (KOLD) - More than 12 hours after his alma mater beat Utah in overtime former Wildcat Jim Furyk beat Charl Schwartzel, 3&2.

Furyk was 2 down to Schwartzel through 3 holes but started nibbling away at the 11th. One par putt on 12 and a birdie on 13 and suddenly Furyk had taken the 1 up lead. He birdied 15 then parred 16 while Schwartzel bogeyed thus finishing the day.

Furyk will now face American Harris English who defeated 1 seed Rory McIlroy in 19 holes.
