TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police say a woman has died after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning in an apparent hit-and-run at Detroit and Willamont in north Toledo.

When police and fire crews responded to the call around 3:30 a.m., they found Thressa James, 26, of Toledo, laying on the side of the road.

Neighbors say there are no sidewalks in the area and that could be why James was walking in the street.

Accident reconstructionists spent time at the scene Friday.

Toledo Police say they heard from a witness, who was able to describe the vehicle involved in the accident, including the license plate. They were then able to arrest Derrick Christopher Gulch late Friday afternoon in connection to the incident.

Gulch is currently only being charged with leaving the scene of an accident. He will be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court on Monday.

James was taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
