Victim expected to survive stabbing in reported family fight

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Authorities arrested a man charged with the attempted first degree murder of a family member in Oro Valley early this morning.

Witnesses called police to the scene of a dispute in the 1500 block of E. Pusch Wilderness Drive around 6 a.m. Friday.

Oro Valley Police said Damien Martinez, 37, was in a physical fight with a family member who suffered one stab wound, but is expected to survive, authorities said.

The victim was taken to a trauma center.

Police booked Martinez into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on charges of attempted first degree murder and domestic violence/aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call 911, 88-CRIME or the OVPD Criminal Investigations Unit at (520) 229-4900.
