TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

It was a busy week for sports and tourism in Tucson last week – with the Tucson Rodeo, the Accenture Match Play Championships and the Desert Diamond Cup all happening at once.   Many residents are wondering just how busy these events were.

Organizers of the Tucson Rodeo have said it was a record setting year for attendance – with some preliminary numbers listing 60,000 attendees and a sold out weekend performance.

While final numbers for the Accenture Match Play Championship are not quite in yet, organizers say they are pleased with the turnout for the 2014 championship.

There is still one sports event that is still underway - major league soccer's Desert Diamond Cup.  FC Tucson officials are saying attendance numbers for the Desert Diamond Cup are strong with more than 5,000 fans hitting the games so far; many of those fans have arrived from out of Tucson.

According to the Visit Tucson website, events such as these account for more than 7 million overnight visitors and the more than 22,000 tourism jobs in the city, per year.
