Women Flock to the Upcoming Red Shoe Movement Event, March 11 in NYC

NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The latest flurry of women being named to high positions is welcome news. In the last few months Janet Yellen became chairwoman of the Federal Reserve, Mary Barra became first female CEO of GM, and Melissa Mark-Viverito became Speaker of the NYC Council. Undoubtedly, women empowerment is an issue that will continue trending for a long time.

For those who know about women empowerment, the red stilettos on the cover of Mariela Dabbah's latest book, Find Your Inner Red Shoes (Penguin 2013), have become a symbol of women interested in breaking the glass ceiling while supporting other women. This iconic image has contributed to the global expansion of the Red Shoe Movement (RSM) as it has emboldened women across the world from the U.S. to Australia, Bolivia, Canada, France, Nepal, Panama, and beyond.

Every Tuesday hundreds of red-shoe-clad women share pictures via social media along with stories of how they are finding their path to success and how they've inspired co-workers to do the same.

Today, RSM announced that its Spring Signature Event will take place March 11th at McGraw Hill Financial where they expect 300 women wearing red shoes and men wearing red ties to show their support.

"It will be another great opportunity for women to recognize their passions and interests, or what we call 'their inner red shoes,' and use that knowledge to empower their careers," explains Mariela Dabbah, founder and CEO of the RSM.
