(CNN) - A lawyer who says he's the real-life basis for a character in the Oscar-nominated film The Wolf of Wall Street is suing the filmmakers for defamation.

Andrew Greene is demanding the movie be removed from theaters and wants $25 million in damages.

Greene says the character Nicky "Rugrat" Koskoff is based on him, and that it makes him look like a criminal and drug user.

The movie is based on real-life wolf of Wall Street Jordan Belfort's 2007 memoir.

Speaking to CNN's Piers Morgan, Greene said the movie has left him humiliated and jobless.

"I'm angry because I was harmed, I was humiliated. I was humiliated in front of my family, my friends. I was humiliated in front of a woman that I planned to marry. I lost my job," he said.

The Wolf of Wall Street is nominated for five Academy Awards.

Paramount pictures did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment on the lawsuit.
