TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Supporters of a proposed ordinance aimed at shutting down local puppy mills will hold a rally later today.

The ordinance would require pet stores to only sell animals from shelters or non-profit rescue groups.

Tucson city Councilman Steve Kozachik, who will be joining the supporters at the rally, plans to take the proposed ordinance to the mayor and council Tuesday.

The Humane Society will also be there with several of their adoptable pets.

It's all happening at 5:30 p.m. at The Shanty on the corner of North Fourth Avenue and East Ninth Street.
