Real world experience and positive exposure are two of the benefits for the new partnership between the University of Arizona and Sunlink's modern streetcar.
More than 60 students from a marketing class at the U of A, mostly seniors, are brainstorming ideas to help promote the streetcar. According to the marketing students this is a two-fold project - the first part being they get a chance to experience real time marketing work before they graduate and the second is Sunlink benefits from the positive exposure the campaign brings.
The students have already begun the process, by listening to the needs of both the city and business leaders to find out exactly what it is they would like to do to make the streetcar successful.
A goal of the students this semester is to reach out to community members and fellow students; to convince them to purchase a pass for the streetcar before it is even available to ride.
According to city officials if work with the streetcar goes as planned it will be fully operational this summer.
