Ashes to Go to mark the beginning of Lent

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Today is Ash Wednesday,the official start of the Season of Lent.

Many members of the publicwill head to their church to have ashes placed on their foreheads as part ofthe tradition. In this age of on the go many churches are realizing noteveryone will have the chance to stop and are offering 'ashes to go' as analternative. 

First Christian Church andSt. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal are offering their service on the go.

Volunteers with St.Phillips in the Hills will be on hand to help with ashes at the followinglocations:

-Tohono Transit Station (4540North Stone Avenue) - 9 am to 12 pm

-NW YMCA (7770 N. Shannon Road) - 8 am to 11 am

-Starbucks on River @ Campbell (1825 E. River Road) - 9 am to 12 pm

-Atria Compana Del Rio Assisted Living (1550 E River Rd) - 12 pm to 2 pm

-Rillito River Trail at Trader Joe's Parking Lot (4209 N Campbell Ave) - 1 pm to4 pm

First Christian Churchwill offer both drive-in and walk up service at its midtown location onSpeedway and Euclid.

St. Andrews is alsooffering ashes to go at the Armory Park (near 12th and 6th) from 12 pm to1 pm.
