Traffic stop results in money seizure for PCSO

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pinal County Sheriff'sOffice is continuing an investigation after money is found in a vehicle after aroutine traffic stop.

According to a PCSO release adeputy pulled the vehicle over on eastbound I-10 after he found theregistration for the vehicle was suspended. The driver, identified as Elda Sepulveda Figueroa, appeared nervous whenspeaking with the deputy but consented to a search of her vehicle.  Figueroa, who according to the release, is onfederal probation for a drug smuggling charge, had her 7-year-old in thevehicle with her.

The deputy with the help of his K9 partnersearched the vehicle and found several bundles of money in a bag behind thedriver's seat, worth a total of $107,730.  Figueroa was arrested and declined to answerany questions, stated the release, but she did tell the deputy the money didnot belong to her. 

Both the vehicle and the moneywere seized, and criminal charges are pending.

    The Tucson Police Department is asking for the public's help locating 17-year-old Anthony Garcia. The teen is described as Hispanic, 5'10" tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he is in his late teens, according to the release, he has special needs and functions at a much younger age.

    Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents recently stopped a human-smuggling attempt at the immigration checkpoint near Amado and another one during a vehicle stop near Three Points.
