TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson man was arrested for attempting to solicit sex from a minor, according to Tucson Police Department Public Information Officer Pete Dugan.

Detectives began investigating the man, 46-year-old Edward Aheimer, who went to a home on the east side to meet a girl he believed to be underage. He had been communicating with her online and the conversation indicated that this meeting was sexual, according to police.

When Aheimer arrived at the home, he was instead met by Tucson Police detectives and U.S. Marshals.

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities searched his car and home. Tucson Police said they found substantial evidence pertaining to the case but did not provide details.

Detectives first began investigating Aheimer after they discovered he was attempting to use a social networking website to allegedly solicit underage girls for sex.

Aheimer was booked into Pima County Jail with one count of attempted sexual misconduct with a minor, a class three felony, and one count of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, a class four felony.

Tucson Police remind parents to monitor their children's online activity, such as online friends, conversations and connections, for safety.
