One juvenile is dead following an attempted robbery Sunday evening in Longview.

The attempted robbery occurred at the "New-Way" gas station located in the 13-hundred block of South Green street. This is located at the intersection of Avalon avenue and South Green street in Longview.

Officials say the store clerk gave a description of the robbery suspect to police officers, and that suspect was located a short time later. When police confronted the suspect, gunfire was exchanged and the suspect was fatally shot.

The officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation, which has been handed over to the Texas Rangers.
