HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A man drove to a Henrico Applebee's after he was shot in Mosby Court Thursday night.

A suspect opened fire inside of the victim's car in the 1300 block of Coalter Street late Thursday. The victim was picking up a female friend at the time, and suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Out of panic, the man drove to a familiar location, an Applebee's restaurant, located in the 4600 block of South Laburnum Avenue, according to Richmond Police. He was transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said that it is not believed that the victim and the suspect knew each other, or that drugs were involved. The female passenger was not hurt.
