TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The University of Arizona is proposing another tuition hike to keep up with inflation.

Campus leadership is asking for a two percent increase for resident students and a five percent hike for non-residents.

Higher tuition would cover higher costs of maintenance, staff, health benefits library materials and retention costs not supported by the state.

The UA is also proposing a guaranteed tuition plan which would keep tuition to a flat rate, factoring in planned increases for eight consecutive semesters.

The Arizona Board of Regents will vote on the issue on April 3.
