Dog owner receives felony animal cruelty conviction

Francisca Aguirre was recently convicted of felony animalcruelty for not getting her dog proper veterinary care after it had been hit bya car.

The case dates back to October 2, 2013 when the Pima AnimalCare Center received an anonymous call about an injured dog on Tucson's southside. 

PACC officers arrived at the 3400 block of E. Milton Rd. onOctober 5, to find the mastiff mix suffering from a severe infection and inextreme pain. Further investigation revealed the dog had been struck by a car theweek before and had not received veterinary care.  According to a PCSD release the dog was alsobeing kept in an area without water or shelter. 

The dog was rushed to the PACC clinic, but was considered toosevere to treat, PACC officials made the decision to have it humanely euthanized.
