TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Local film-makers are getting a chance at their big break in show business.

A cross-border screenplay treatment competition is now underway.

Several local and Mexican groups are behind the contest, including Film Tucson and the University of Arizona's Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

A "treatment" is a rough draft of a screenplay.

The contest is intended to promote more film-making on both sides of the border.
