COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

University of South Carolina football redshirt freshman Na'Ty Rodgers was charged with disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol by person under the age of 21 after police were called to Five Points Sunday morning.

Jennifer Timmons with the Columbia Police Department said officers responded to a civil disturbance call at Breakers Bar and Grill after Rodgers, 19, was allegedly acting in a loud and boisterous manner around 12:30 a.m.

Officers also detected a strong odor of alcohol when speaking with Rodgers, Timmons said.

Timmons said Rodgers was cooperative with police.

According to court records, Rodgers has to pay a $262.50 fine for each charge and appear in municipal court March 26 at 8 a.m.

University of South Carolina Assistant Athletic Director Steve Fink said per department policy any student-athlete who is arrested or charged with a crime is suspended immediately.

It's not known how long Rodgers will be suspended.

Rodgers, a Pomfret, Md. native, did not practice on Thursday due to an academic situation. He did not practice on Friday either, but the reason was unclear. Rodgers did return to practice on Saturday.

Rodgers played in the Arkansas game in 2013 but broke his thumb during the game. He was granted a redshirt due to the injury.
