While we enjoy the 80s and sunshine in the desert southwest, New England is bracing itself for what could be a major winter storm.

Low Pressure currently sitting over Montana will swing itself southward and tap into the moist air of the Gulf of Mexico. This will give the system well needed moisture it currently lacks and the cold air associated with the storm will allow for heavy snow to fall in areas of the East Coast.

As of now Hartford, CT up to Caribou, ME will be hit the hardest. Snow will start to fall late Tuesday and last through Wednesday. Snowfall totals could range from one foot upwards to nearly three feet of snow. With the heaviest snow being around the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts and coastal Maine.

Above is our in-house model indicating where the heaviest snow will fall through Midday Wednesday. The latest runs are indicating more snow than this is likely. There is a lot of uncertainly left with this upcoming storm, but if you plan on traveling to the East Coast this week you'll want to be prepared. Here is a link to our flight tracker and we will have the latest on this storm through the week on KOLD and Fox 11.
