Tucson, AZ -

After having its full arsenal for the first time this season during its record breaking performance at the Pac-12 Championships, the Arizona men's swimming and diving team will look to break even more records at the NCAA Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center beginning on Thursday.

The Wildcats have 16 members of the squad competing at the NCAA Championships, which includes 14 swimmers and two divers.

Arizona earned six titles at the Pac-12 Championships just a few weeks ago including four Pac-12 meet records. Kevin Cordes was part of three meet records as he won the 100 breast and 200 breast in record fashion and was also part of the record breaking 200 medley relay team. In addition, Brad Tandy was part of two meet records as his winning 50 free time broke the meet and school records. He was also part of the 200 medley relay with Cordes. The Wildcats also won first in the 400 medley relay and Giles Smith took top honors in the 100 fly.

Last season, the Cats finished third in the team standings. The men's team also earned three event titles as Cordes won the 100 breast and 200 breast, while the 400 medley relay team also earned a national title. Cordes' 100 breast and 200 breast were fastest in history.

The Wildcats also own several top times nationally. Tandy owns the top time in the 50 free (18.80), while Cordes has the top 100 breast (50.70) and 200 breast (1:49.48) times in the country and Giles Smith has the top time in the 100 fly (44.73). In addition, the Wildcats have the top times nationally in the 200 medley relay (1:23.50) and the 400 medley relay (3:03.70).

Smith was named Pac-12 Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year just a couple weeks ago. The award was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are exemplary both academically and in their sports discipline. Arizona swept the award as teammate Margo Geer was awarded with the honor on the women's side.

Arizona has been full of accomplishments through the years as the men and women have combined for 91 individual and relay national titles. Meanwhile, the women have earned an incredible 178 All-America honors in history to go along with 13 top-five team finishes at NCAAs. The men and women both earned team national titles in 2008.
