TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Salvation Army, Southwest Gas and their Energy Share Program will assist customers with their gas bills this month.

Participants can attend Natural Gas Assistance Day on April 9 and 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mulcahy YMCA at 2805 E. Ajo Way, behind the Pima County One Stop job center complex.

Bills do not need to be delinquent for customers to receive the assistance, as long as low-income or hardship can be measured through the application review process of all required documents, according to a news release.

The event will not cover assistance with propane.

- Most recent Southwest gas bill
- Birth certificates for everyone in the home
- Social security cards for everyone in the home
- Picture ID for all adults in the household
- Proof of income for the last thirty days
- Award letter for SSI, disability, pension, child support or unemployment
- DES award letter for food stamps, AFDC
- Monthly bills: utilities, cable, phone, car payment, insurance, medical, credit cards, etc.
- Receipts/bank print-out of expenses for the past 30 days
- Contract/lease for section 8/conventional/hud housing
- If not a U.S. citizen, bring a valid passport or certificate of naturalization or valid resident alien card or a current picture ID/driver's license from country of citizenship.
