Richmond police investigate series of drive-by shootings

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond police are investigating a series of drive-by shootings that have rattled neighbors in one North Richmond community.

Police say there have been three shootings in three days in the South Barton Heights neighborhood. Luckily, no one has been hurt.

The first shooting happened Saturday afternoon in front of a laundromat on Roberts Avenue near North Avenue. While investigators tell us no homes were hit, homeowner Andre Jonathan says looking at his house will tell you different.

Several bullet holes can be found in the side of his house and NBC12 actually found bullet casings nearby.

"I heard a lot of gunshots when I was in the house," said Andre Jonathan. "Then I went to the window and didn't see nothing."

According to Richmond police, another drive-by shooting happened the next day just a few blocks away from the first shooting on Garland Avenue. Then, Monday morning shots were fired into a house on Miller Avenue.

Richmond police say all three crimes have one thing in common: witnesses report seeing at each crime scene either a silver/gray Jeep or SUV.

Richmond detectives are still looking for that vehicle and are stepping up patrols in that neighborhood for the time being.

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
