April kicks off month long Bike Fest

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

April kicks off a monthof bicycling fun right here in Tucson.

Bike Fest Tucson isan annual celebration, with events taking place during the entire month of April. 

There are severalevents across the city, from bike-in movies to biking to work day.  There are also prizes and giveaways. 

Bike Fest is meant toencourage people to use bikes as an alternative and healthy transportation option.

Here are just a fewof the events taking place this month:

"It is wonderful to see our communityorganizing to promote bicycling and reduce motor vehicle trips," said BethGorman, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality Clean Air ProgramManager, in a recent release.  Join the Pima County Department ofEnvironmental Quality in encouraging employees to Bike to Work Day onWednesday, April 23. Downtown workers who ride their bikes to work that day canstop by for breakfast snacks in the Jácome Plaza near the Main Library at StoneAve. and Pennington Street from 7a.m. to 9 a.m.

Bike Fest is a program of Living StreetsAlliance, in partnership with Pima County Department of Environmental Quality,the City of Tucson, Pima Association of Governments, and numerous localbusinesses and community organizations.
