TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Arizona Game and Fish has announced that a fourth bighorn lamb has been observed with one of the ewes released in the Santa Catalina Mountains in November.

According to the Game and Fish website, a project biologist observed the pair on March 28.

Thirty-one bighorn sheep were released in the area on Nov. 18 as part of the Catalina Bighorn Sheep Reintroduction Project.

Since the release, 16 of the reintroduced sheep have died, mostly as a result of predation by mountain lions.

Three lions that have been identified as responsible for sheep deaths have been killed.
