Indianapolis, IN - Former Wildcat Jason Gardner was introduced Wednesday as the new head men's basketball coach of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Gardner, who spent the last season on Josh Pastner's staff at Memphis, will have his work cut out for him. He takes over a program that finished 6-26 in '13-'14. But the Indianapolis native, whose jersey is enshrined in the rafters of McKale Center, is not fazed one bit.
According to an article by Indianapolis Star reporter Phil Richards, Gardner said, "My goal is one day to look up and there are going to be banners in that arena. It's going to be hard work. Nothing is easy but I think that's kind of the way my life has been is that I've always been kind of the smallest guy and I've always had to outwork people."
