TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

There will be a big celebration here in the courtyard of Hotel Congress (311 E. Congress/Courtyard Entrance) in downtown Tucson. Meet Me at Maynards is celebrating its 5th birthday.

Meet Me at Maynards is a weekly free social walk and run that happens in downtown Tucson on Monday evenings. It has brought more than 105,000 people to the downtown area, as well as become a premier meeting place for active adults and families, since its beginning in 2009. Participants are given a chance to exercise and enjoy discounts at 29 restaurants.

Birthday festivities are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. this evening and go to 8 p.m. Walkers and runners will be entertained on the downtown portion of the route by nine local bands and musicians, including The Determined Luddites, Guilty Bystanders, Tucson Pipers, Louie Levinson Trio and Cadillac Mountain. Participants can play a game along the way, earning drawing tickets for restaurant gift certificates. At the completion of tonight's walk, a BBQ will be held in the courtyard of Hotel Congress.

Organizers are also expecting more than a thousand Triple M athletes to take part in the four mile walk or run this evening.
