Warm weather ushers in longer hours for 2nd Saturdays

Join in all the street activity Downtown at 2nd Saturdays on April 12 from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  The music at the 94.9 MIXfm Stage located at Scott and Congress is free and local.  There will be lots of fun, music, food and activities on Congress from Toole Ave. to Church Ave. 

Sample food from the food trucks, visit the vendors, check out the car clubs and enjoy street performers.  There is even a chance to win a new Jeep from the Click Automotive Team,  All proceeds from the ticket purchase for the Jeep Giveaway will go to 2nd Saturdays.  Look for other chances to participate in "give-a-ways" at the vendor and sponsor booths. 

The outdoor 94.9 MIXfm stage:

6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.: Cadillac Mountain, Hard Driving Bluegrass

7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.:  The Carnivaleros, Genre Busting Desert Bayou Stew

9 p.m. to10 p.m.:  Michael P. & The Gully Washers featuring Katherine Byrnes, Funky Blues and Rock ‘N' Roll

The Kids Area and the Southern AZ Transportation Museum are both located at the Historic Train depot (414 N. Toole Ave.) Cinema La Placita and 2nd  Saturdays have partnered to bring kids' activities, face painting, choo choo rides and a free movie to the event.    Admission is free and the fun begins at 4:30 p.m. with the movie "Despicable Me 2" beginning at 6:30 p.m..  (The Museum opens at 10 a.m. every Saturday but will stay open until 8 p.m. in partnership with 2nd Saturdays).

Fox Theatre (17 W. Congress St.):

7:30 p.m.: Parallax: Michael Howell - Direct from Las Vegas.  Don't miss a chance to see Illusionist Michael Howell in Parallax.  All ticket sales benefit The Fox Theatre Tucson and The Rose Ranch Animal Rescue.

Hotel Congress (311 E. Congress St.):

7 p.m.:  Dick Dale, $25 per person

10 p.m.: Join DJs Bob Felix, Sid the Kid, & Jalph for what has become one of Tucson's most fun Saturday nights.  All the favorite hits from yesterday and today on two stages. DO NOT forget those dancing shoes.

Rialto Theatre (318 W. Congress St.):

8 p.m.: Neko Case (indie rock) with the Dodos, Dylan Pratt.  Showtime all ages, $28 gen. admission.

Ben's Bells Celebration of Kindness (40 W. Broadway):

6 p.m. to 10 p.m.: $65 advance tickets; $75 at the door.  Food, live music and a silent auction.

Congress will be open to traffic and there is plenty of parking.  Come visit a favorite restaurant or bar and join in the activities.
